-
Preventive care: Check-ups, scale and cleans, x-rays, and fluoride treatments

Restorative work: Fillings, dental crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays
-

-
Oral surgery: Tooth extractions and minor surgical procedures
-
Dentures and tooth replacement: Full dentures, partial dentures, relines, and repairs
-
DVA dental implants: Available with prior DVA approval (we submit the application for you)
Orthodontics: For eligible dependents of Gold Card holders
DVA White Card Dental Coverage
White Card holders can access dental treatment for conditions the DVA has accepted as related to your military service. This means your coverage is condition-specific, not across-the-board like the Gold Card.
What you may be eligible for with a White Card:
-
Treatment directly linked to your accepted service-related condition.
-
Follow-up, restorative, or surgical care for an approved dental issue.
-
Ongoing management of accepted dental conditions.
Because White Card coverage can be tricky to figure out on your own, we check your specific entitlements before starting any work. If a treatment falls outside your DVA coverage, we will let you know upfront and discuss your options (including our veteran family discount, detailed below).

Understanding DVA Dental Costs and the Biennial Monetary Limit (BML)
Most dental treatment under the DVA scheme comes at zero out-of-pocket cost to eligible cardholders. You won't pay anything for standard check-ups, cleans, fillings, extractions, or dentures.
However, a Biennial Monetary Limit (BML) applies to certain high-cost restorative items like crowns, bridges, and veneers. As of the current DVA dental fee schedule (effective 1 January 2026), the BML is $5,980.30 over two calendar years.
What does that mean in plain terms?
DVA will cover up to $5,980.30 worth of Schedule C items (the high-cost category) across a two-year period. If your treatment exceeds that cap, you may need to make a co-payment for the difference.
You are exempt from the BML entirely if:
-
You are an ex-prisoner of war (POW)
-
Your treatment is for a service-related injury or condition accepted by DVA
-
The treatment is for malignant cancer affecting your teeth or jaw
The BML resets every two years and cannot be rolled over. Your full $5,980.30 can be used in year one if needed. We keep track of your BML balance and let you know where you stand before recommending any high-cost treatment.
Understanding DVA Dental Costs and the Biennial Monetary Limit (BML)
Being veteran-owned means we go further than just accepting your DVA card. We've built specific pricing support for the wider defence community:
-
10% discount on all private services for Australian Partners of Defence (APOD) members.
-
10% discount for White Card holders on treatments not covered by DVA.
These discounts apply to every private service we offer, from teeth whitening to dental implants. It's our way of making sure cost does not get in the way of good dental health for anyone connected to the defence community.
